Huawei’s Next Flagship Chipset Will Be a 3nm Kirin 9010: Leak

Huawei has only recently unveiled its first 5nm SoC, the Kirin 9000 that powers the company’s latest flagship series, the Mate 40. It has only been a few months since its release, but leaks regarding Huawei’s next flagship chip are already surfacing.

According to the renowned tipster Teme, Huawei’s next first-rate SoC will be called the Kirin 9010 and it will be based on the 3nm process.

Prior to the release of the Mate 40 series, rumors suggested that the Kirin 9000 will be the last flagship chip from Huawei as the company had its chip supply cut off due to the US ban. Samsung and TSMC are the leaders of the chipmaking industry that offer the latest chip node technology, but Huawei had its supply cut off from each, which is why the news is rather surprising.

Unfortunately, that is all the tweet reveals and there is still no information on who this chipset is made by or when it will release. However, if all goes well, we may get to see it in 2022, perhaps with the Mate 60 series as it can take a while to make such a leap.

Huawei was the first to release a 5nm SoC for an Android phone and rivals including Samsung and Qualcomm released their own iterations soon afterward as the Exynos 1080 and Snapdragon 888. We expect the same to happen after Huawei announces the Kirin 9010, with both rivals releasing their own 3nm chips soon afterward.

Huawei P50 Pro Shows Up in a Leaked Image

Now that Huawei’s Mate 40 launch is out of the way, it is time to look forward to the next big release, the P50 series. Renowned leakster Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as OnLeaks, has given us an early look at the Huawei P50 Pro.

Similar to all recent Huawei flagships, the P50 Pro will retain the waterfall display with extreme curves on the sides. The volume buttons are visible in the image, meaning that it will not have virtual ones seen on the Huawei Mate 30/40 phones.

The earpiece is not clearly visible in the image, but Oneaks reports that it will be a traditional earpiece, unlike the vibrating screen feature the P40 featured.

In a previous leak from tipster Teme we have heard that the P5o Pro will feature a triple camera setup similar to the Mate 40, but with an upgraded main camera and ultrawide camera. He also says that it will have a single punch-hole camera similar to the P30, which goes in line with the latest report from Onleaks.

LHC Dismisses Students’ Plea For Rechecking MDCAT Papers

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has thrown out a petition challenging results and demanding a recheck of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2020 session.

The plea filed by candidate Fatima Siddiqi and others was termed not maintainable by a bench led by Justice Ayesha A Malik.

The plaintiffs had contended in the petition that the MCQs in the entrance exam were out of syllabus, which led to a number of students failing the exam.

Their counsel also maintained that Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) had failed to fulfill the commitment of granting grace marks to the students.

The lawyer also questioned the legitimacy of several provisions of the PMC Act 2020, arguing that the provisions violated fundamental rights granted by the constitution.

He requested the court to suspend the admission process and order rechecking of the papers.

Justice Malik ruled that the petitioners did not avail of the first remedy under the law and delayed approaching the court. She observed that the MDCAT regulations did not provide for rechecking option.

Punjab Collected 41.6% More Tax From July-Dec 2020 Compared to Last Year

Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) collected Rs. 73.7 billion from July to December 2020 registering a phenomenal growth of 41.6 percent over the Rs. 52.1 billion collected in the first half of the previous financial year, PRA spokesperson said this on Friday.

This performance, she added, was all the more remarkable in view of the unprecedented tax relief package given by the Punjab Government through the Finance Act 2020 wherein the rate of Punjab Sales Tax on Services on more than 25 services was reduced to support COVID-19 affected sectors, boost compliance and encourage documentation.

Punjab government reduced the rate of PSTS (Provincial Sales Tax on Services) from 16 percent to 5 percent for various sectors that were affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic including marriage halls and lawns, small hotels, caterers, tour operators, rent-a-car services, photographers, gyms, and manpower recruitment services.

In addition, the rate of PSTS on health insurance, medical consultancy, and hospital charges was reduced to zero percent to cut the cost of healthcare for the public, she maintained.

PRA spokesperson added that the government also reduced the rate of sales tax on restaurants and beauty parlor services from 16 percent to 5 percent in case of payment through credit or debit cards. This widely appreciated move, she said, was aimed at promoting documentation of the economy and had started to pay dividends as the proportion of customers using cards for payment was on the rise.

Confirmed: Chery SUVs Are Coming to Pakistan But Not Through Ghandhara Industries Limited

Yesterday, Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) issued a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stating that ‘GIL’ is not in talks with any Chinese automaker to bring any SUVs to Pakistan and that the media reports are, “baseless and have no legal standing.” To the onlookers, it seemed that the Chery SUV won’t be coming to Pakistan at all.

Prior to this, media outlets had reported that the Chery Tiggo 8 will be coming soon and that one of the Ghandhara Group of Companies will be the one to bring the SUV to Pakistan. However, the news of GIL’s letter caused massive confusion among the audience.

It turns out that the media report was somewhat correct and the news that GIL won’t be the one to bring the SUV here is also correct. Let us unpack the whole scenario:

In the initial report, it was stated that Ghandhara Nissan Limited (GNL) is in talks with Chery to introduce their SUVs in Pakistan, which – as verified by one of ProPakistani’s trusted sources – is correct.

However, the reports than got misconstrued by certain other popular outlets, which began stating that Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) is the one trying to introduce the SUVs in Pakistan, which is incorrect, and was responded to, by GIL in a letter issued to PSX.
